Community

Wedding Computer has opt-in community rooms that group people by country, season, and year — for example, “Australia · Autumn 2027.” It’s entirely optional — nothing about your account requires joining a community.

Access it from Community in the sidebar.

Everyone in a room is planning a wedding in the same place at roughly the same time as you, which makes a few specific things easier than a general wedding forum:

  • Comparing local vendors — ask who else has booked a photographer, celebrant, or venue you’re considering, and hear about their actual experience and pricing before you commit.
  • Season-specific planning tips — a room built around your season and country surfaces advice that’s actually relevant to your conditions, not generic checklists: what an Autumn wedding in your country means for weather contingencies, timing, and supplier lead times.
  • Someone else in the thick of it — planning a wedding is stressful, and a room full of people hitting the same milestones (booking, guest lists, final counts) around the same time gives you somewhere to vent, ask “is this normal?”, and get a reply from someone who isn’t trying to sell you anything.

You’re prompted to join the room that matches your wedding date and location. If you haven’t set a wedding date yet, add one first — the community is built around finding people planning at the same time as you.

Vendors join deliberately: pick a country, season, and year from the community hub, and you’re badged as a Vendor in that room so couples know who they’re talking to. That gets you in front of couples who are actively planning weddings in your season and country — not a cold audience, but people already making the exact decisions your business depends on.

It works best as an answer to questions, not a pitch. A celebrant can settle a legal question about notice periods or documentation. A florist can weigh in when someone asks what’s actually in season. A venue can speak to what a wedding in that season and location really involves logistically. Posting and moderation rules (see below) exist specifically so this stays a legitimate way to be visibly helpful rather than a channel for unsolicited sales messages — if you’re only posting to promote yourself, expect it to get reported.

You can leave a room at any time and rejoin later.

Rooms are cohorts of country · season · year — for example, “Australia · Autumn 2027.” Season is calculated correctly for your hemisphere. State or province is not part of the room itself; it’s a filter you can apply once you’re inside, for narrowing conversations to your area.

When you join, you set a display name — this is what other members see. Wedding Computer does not automatically show a couple’s exact wedding date, venue, or contact details; it shows the display name and broad area instead. Posts are member-written, so avoid voluntarily putting private details into a conversation you do not want the room to read.

Inside a room:

  • Start a conversation — give it a title and write the first post
  • Reply to any conversation
  • Edit or delete your own posts — edited posts are marked “edited”; if someone else’s edit lands while you’re editing the same post, you’ll see the latest version rather than overwriting it
  • Report a post that breaks the rules — this goes to the Wedding Computer team for review

Posting is rate-limited to keep rooms readable if someone posts in a burst.

Reports are reviewed by the Wedding Computer team. Posting, replying, editing, and deleting are all protected the same way as any other account action on the platform.

  • Directory listing — a passive, searchable listing versus actively answering questions in a room
